About Unity

I have always been an outdoor chick, finding every opportunity to be outside, whether it be for work or play. I was a teacher of all ages over 35 years, and also a youth worker taking groups climbing, hill walking and canoeing, so grabbing all chances to get into nature and the wilderness, using my Mountain Instructor certificate even though I lived nowhere near a mountain!

Around 12 years ago I turned to triathlon as a hobby, and started outdoor swimming in managed lakes in a wetsuit, and experiencing some amazing locations as a competitor, most notably in North Wales. One day after winter lake training I tried a dip without the wetsuit, and the endorphin hit was so extraordinary, and the sensations so overwhelmingly joyous that I instantly became a crazy cold water convert! Here was an activity that delivered adventure, exploration, exhilaration and community like no other. I was hooked.

Now I live near the sea and moor, and have gained a qualification in Open Water Swim Coaching, I can truly open up this incredible experience to anyone who can swim.
